Career paths for young people
Operating as a talent pipeline for young people in Newham and Tower hamlets, arebyte works with colleges and youth employment programmes to offer internships and student’s placements. Through this initiative, arebyte aims to improve access to the art & tech industry and inspire young people to pursue a career in the sector.
Placement Programme
In partnership with East London Arts and Music (ELAM)
A placement at arebyte is a great way of introducing students to the different roles existing within an organisation developing interactive art installations and running creative digital skills workshops . Across 5 -10 days, students will gain an overall understanding of the different aspects involved in running a programme of exhibitions, events and workshops. From programming, fundraising, production and promotion, the work experience is designed for students to get a taster of different career options within the creative industries.
East London Arts and Music is the Industry Academy for 16-19-year olds. ELAM exists to enable talented and ambitious young people to develop careers in the Music, Film and Games Design industries by providing them with the skills and access.
Internship Programme
In partnership with Royal Docks' Internship Programme
arebyte offers a 12-month internship for local young people aged 18-30 years old who want to kickstart a career in arts management. The internship is an opportunity to secure an entry level position in an art organisation working within art & tech, and gain the knowledge and experience needed to progress in the industry. The role is tailored to the candidates’s interests and skills, spanning from arts marketing, fundraising, video editing, project management to web designing.
The Royal Docks' Internship Programme is part of the Mayor of Newham’s and Mayor of London's commitment to investing in the skills and talents of local people and creating more youth employment opportunities, especially in response to the economic impact of Covid-19.
University Placements
arebyte acts as a host organisation for work placement modules of BA/MA/MSc in communications, media practice, cultural policymaking and arts management. The 4-6 weeks experience gives students the opportunity to engage with the industry as part of an accredited course, in order to apply academic knowledge in a practical working environment. By collaborating on dedicated projects, students are exposed to digital practices in the cultural sector and gain an insight on the opportunities and the challenges faced by the industry.
